Albert Robert Coleman was born in West Ham, Essex, and living at Custom House, London, enlisted at Stratford. Serving with the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment, he entered the Balkan theatre of war on 25 April 1915 and died in Gallipoli on 28 April, aged 25 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. Private Coleman was the son of Mr J. W. Coleman of 66 Cleaver Road, Custom House, Victoria Docks, London. Sold with folder containing commemorative scroll and forwarding slips for the medals and plaque, copied m.i.c. and war diary extracts.
