5244 Private J. Taylor, Coldstream Guards, serving in the Guards Camel Corps, was killed in action at the battle of Abu Klea, 17 January 1885. Listed as ‘F. Taylor’ in the published roll; correctly listed in the roll extracts which accompany the medal. Private Taylor was the only fatality from the regiment in the battle.
