Afghanistan 1878-80, 2 clasps, Ahmed Khel, Kandahar (1644 Pte. G. Oram, 2/60th Foot) some edge bruising and pitting, nearly very fine £280-320

George Oram was born in Uphaven, near Pursey, Wiltshire. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 60th rifles at Westminster on 16 October 1866, aged 19 years. With the 60th Foot he served in India, September 1867-November 1878; Afghanistan, November 1878-October 1880; India, November 1880-January 1881; South Africa, January 1881-January 1882; Egypt, August 1884-July 1885 - for which service he was awarded the Afghan Medal with two clasps, Kabul to Kandahar Star, Egypt Medal with clasps for the Nile 1884-85 and Abu Klea and Khedive’s Star. He was discharged after giving notice on 4 December 1888. Sold with copied service papers.
