Tibet 1903-04, 1 clasp, Gyantse (No.3096 Farrier Najib Ullah, 4th Ekka Corps) later (?) style impressed naming, edge bruise, scratches to obv., fine £140-180

Clasp not confirmed, The ‘ekka’ was a two-wheeled cart, which, being easy to dismantle, was the mainstay of the British supply column as it toiled up and through the Himalayas. They were drawn by a diversity of animals, the yak proving to be the most satisfactory. One yak pulling an ‘ekka-load’ of 400 lbs. was the equivalent of two and a half ‘mule-loads’ but with the advantage of only one beast to feed!
