John Lee Coram was born in Cape Town on 29 August 1921. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for service outside South Africa on 1 July 1940, whilst serving in the Cape Town Highlanders and having previously served in the Cape Garrison Artillery during 1938-39. Serving with the Cape Town Highlanders and South African Tank Corps, he was wounded at Orvieto, Italy, on 10 July 1944 and was evacuated by air to Naples. He was discharged at Johannesburg on 11 November 1945. Sold with a badge of the Cape Town Highlanders and one of the South African Tank Corps; also with copied service papers, two copied photographs and other research.
