2365 Pte., 28-Lond. R.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaf (Lieut.) reverse of star lightly but abrasively cleaned, otherwise nearly extremely fine (3) £120-150

Sold with copy of m.i.c. which confirms M.I.D., first theatre of war served in as France from 22 January 1915 and states deceased.

War Diary for 2 September 1915 states: ‘Germans bombarded the right of our line with trench mortars and 5.9 howitzers. Our trench mortars retaliated promptly, followed by field guns and field howitzers. Germans desisted after an hour. We suffered a few casualties including Second Lieutenant Dale who was unfortunately wounded in the thigh, but not seriously.’
