Bronze Star ‘For exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy on or about 17 September 1944 in the European Theater of Operations, while assigned as Private, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment’.

The 505th Regiment formed part of the 82nd Airborne Division. As part of ‘Operation Market Garden, the 82nd Division jumped on 17 September, the 504th seizing the Grave and Maas-Waal Bridges, the 508th was involved in heavy fighting at Nijmegan, and the 505th took the Groesbeek Heights and held off German attacks that included tanks.

Sold with Department of the Army H.Q. letter dated 31 January 1961, confirming the awards of the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman’s Badge, together with copied research.
