Francis Sheffield Sorell, appointed Lieutenant, 28 October 1871; Captain, October 1883; Major, October 1891, and Lieutenant-Colonel, October 1897. Appointed to the Staff Corps in 1876. Served at Rumpa, 1879-80. In the Burma campaign of 1886-88, he served as Road Commandant in the 3rd Brigade. Commanded the Kalewa Column during the operations on the Western Frontier. Entitled to a medal with two clasps. Latterly Military Secretary to the Resident of Hyderabad.
