Henry Cartledge, a Twisthand by occupation, enlisted into the 60th Regiment, at Nottingham, on 8 October 1845, aged 19 years. With the 2nd Battalion he served in the Third Kaffir War, 1850-53. Granted a Good Conduct Badge in February 1853, he was discharged as being medically unfit for further service on 13 September 1853 and was granted a pension. Sold with a folder containing copied service papers and other research.
