Military General Service 1793-1814, 9 clasps, Egypt, Corunna, Fuentes D’Onor, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (Angus Henderson, 92nd Foot) repair to one rivet and some edge bruising, otherwise very fine £2500-3000

Sold at Sotheby in May 1895 in pair with Waterloo medal and in the Dalrymple White Collection 1946, when the Waterloo was described as re-engraved. The M.G.S. appeared in the Elson Collection 1963 as a single medal.

Angus Henderson was born at Killmaly, near Fort William, Inverness, and enlisted into the 92nd Foot on 30 April 1794. He served in the Peninsula and at Waterloo, and was discharged in the rank of Sergeant at Edinburgh Castle on 26 December 1816, being ‘worn out’. He was admitted to Chelsea Hospital as an out-pensioner on 28 January 1817. At Waterloo he was a Sergeant in Captain Claude Alexander’s company. Sold with copy discharge papers.
