First sold at Sotheby in November 1893 and ex Elson Collection 1963.

Thomas Leonard was born at Bownagh, Co. Carlow, and enlisted into the 87th on 6 November 1811. He served for just 2 years 352 days before being discharged at Plymouth on 24 October 1814, in consequence of ‘having a wound in the left hand at Orthes’. After several applications for pension he was, in October 1872, recommended to apply to the Governors of Kilmainham Hospital for admission. Sold with copy discharge papers.
