Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint, Shilling, Gp C, mm. plume, similar, rev. oval scroll-garnished shield, ornate scrolls to upper half, plume between c r at top, 5.86g/7h (Sharp C2/4; SCBI Brooker 454, same dies; N 2222; S 2788). A piece of fine work from carefully engraved dies with guide lines within both inner and outer beaded circles, well-centred on a round flan, very fine and toned, very rare (£1,000-1,500)
