Great Britain, Proposed coronation of edward VIII, 1937, the matrix and working punch for the obverse of a 23mm medal, the artist uncertain, bare-headed bust left, top of epaulette visible, crown above and to right, CORONATION above, MAY 1937 to left of truncation, KING EDWARD VIII to right, indistinct signature above KING E of legend, 39 and 42mm respectively; together with a working punch for the obverse of a 28mm medal, unsigned, with the same bare-headed bust left but with full epaulette showing, encircled in a crowned Garter impressed CORONATION to left, MAY 1937 below and KING EDWARD VIII to right, 40mm. [3]. No foundry marks; some light surface rusting otherwise fine, presumably UNIQUE (£200-300)
No medals struck from these dies recorded by Whittlestone and Ewing, or Brown. Some detective work would reveal the name of the artist or publisher.
