The Fenian Brotherhood/Irish Republican Brotherhood was established in 1858. Fundraising notes were designed and prepared for issue during the mid-1860s but by then there was already a split in the ranks which led to two separate issues, although all notes were printed by the Continental Banknote Company, New York
