Norman Alexander Jarvie, was born in Glasgow 14 February 1872, commissioned into the 3rd battalion HLI in 1895, he served with the 4th battalion and later with the 1st battalion in South Africa during the Boer War, interestingly he is noted on the medal roll as ‘on black list’ and ‘removed from the army’ the London Gazette confirms ‘retired from the Militia, dated 17 November 1900’ perhaps as a result of a court-marshall?
