Guard’s Officer’s sword, a William IV 1822 pattern sword for an officer of the Coldstream Guards, the 83cm pipe-back blade by Maxted, 4 Norris Street St James’s, etched with crowned royal cypher sprays of oakleaves regimental device and motto and within a cartouche the owner’s crest and motto, regulation copper-gilt ‘gothic hilt’ incorporating royal cypher folding side guard, fish-skin covered grip bound with copper wire, retaining its gold bullion sword knot, contained in its black leather scabbard with top locket with frog-button and chape, gilding worn scabbard a little creased otherwise good condition £350-400
