A good Victorian presentation sword of The Lothians and Berwickshire Yeomanry Cavalry, a special pattern sword based on the 1822 pattern light cavalry sword, the slightly curved 90cm blade by Robert Mole & Sons, makers to the War & Indian Offices, etched with crowned reversed an intwined VR cypher, panels of foliate scrolls and within a central panel a presentation inscription ‘Presented by The Right Honble The Earl of Haddington Lieut-Colonel commanding The Lothians and Berwickshire Y.C. to trooper R.C. Nisbet as best swordsman in the regiment July 1891.’ german-silver three-bar hilt covered with cast and chased acanthus leaves, back-strap decorated with laurel wreaths, oakleaves and a classical helmet, black fish-skin covered grip bound with silver wire, complete with its plated steel scabbard, good condition throughout £600-700
