Pair: Serjeant L. Dufner, Machine Gun Corps (Motors), a ‘Dunsterforce’ casualty, killed in action, 26 August 1918

Leonard Dufner enlisted at Coventry on 11 December 1915, aged 18 years. In March 1918 he volunteered for service in ‘Locker Lampson’s Armoured Car Unit’. Promoted to Serjeant at the same time, he was posted to the Mesopotamian theatre of war to serve as part of ‘Dunsterforce’. Whilst serving with the 6th Light Armoured Motor Battery he was posted missing, later killed in action at Baku, on 26 August 1918. His name was commemorated on the Basra Memorial. He was the son of Herbert John and Elizabeth Dufner of 106 Sir Thomas Whites Road, Coventry. Sold with copied service papers.
