Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880, reverse inscribed, ‘Lieut. H. Bayly, 92nd Highlanders’, about very fine £70-90

Henry Bayly was appointed a Lieutenant in the 92nd Highlanders on 30 December 1871. He served with them in the Afghanistan War, 1879-80 and was present at the engagement at Charasia, 6 October 1879 and in the operations around Kabul in December 1879, including the investment of Sherpore. He also accompanied Sir frederick Roberts in the march to Kandahar, and was present at the reconnaissance on 31 August and at the battle of Kandahar, 1 September 1880. Promoted to Captain on 9 September 1880, he then served with the regiment in the 1st Boer War 1881. Promoted to Major on 19 September 1885, he was then placed on the Retired List.
