Distinguished Service Medal, G.V.R. (K.3943 S. Doble, Lg. Sto. Submarine Service 1917); 1914-15 Star (K.3943 Sto. 1, R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (K.3943 L. Sto. R.N.) edge bruising, contact marks and polished, otherwise good fine and better (4) £1400-1600

D.S.M. London Gazette 2 November 1917: 'For services in submarines in enemy waters.'

Sidney Doble was born at Exmouth, Devon, on 22 June 1891, and joined the Navy as a Stoker 2nd class in August 1909. He transferred to the Submarine branch in January 1914 and served aboard H.M. Submarine
D6 in 1915, in J5 from April 1916 to July 1918, and thereafter in G5 until October 1919. After the war he served in L71, H29, and H52. Sold with copy service record which shows that Doble was also mentioned in despatches in January 1917.
