Thomas William Holmes, having served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, entered the Submarine Service in September 1952. Serving on submarines until 1962, he was based on a number of depot ships and bases: Dolphin, Montclare, Maidstone, Adamant and Tyne, and served on the submarines Scorcher, 1953; Turpin, 1954; Amphion, 1956 and Thermopylae, 1958-59; gaining his Long Service medal whilst on the Turpin. Sold with copied Submarine Index Card and nine photographs of the submarines on which he served.
