James Henry Gideon was born in 1862 and was educated at Dulwich College and the Royal Military College. He entered the Army in 1881, was Adjutant of the 1st Royal Jersey Militia, October 1897-May 1902, and attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in September 1905, commanding the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, 1905-09. He was appointed Brevet Colonel in September 1908 and retired in September the following year. Serving as a Colonel in the Great War, he commanded reinforcements in France, 1914-18 and was appointed D.A.A.G. on Lines of Communication, August 1914 and A.A.G.for the same, April 1915-1918. For his services he was twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.B. Colonel Gideon died on 17 February 1958. Sold with Lancashire Fusiliers collar badge.
