Christopher Herbert Counsell was born in Liss, Hampshire. Serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd attached 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he died of wounds on 6 July 1916, aged 26 years. He was buried in the Gezaincourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. He was the son of Herbert Edward and Helen Counsell of 37 Broad Street, Oxford.
