Edward Thomas Steel was born in Lambeth and living in Bargoed, enlisted at Blanconway. Serving in the 3rd Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 8 May 1915, aged 17 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Mary Elizabeth Steel of 15 Waterfall Cottages, Waterfall Road, Wimbledon, London.
