Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (541 Pte. J. Marshall, 43rd Foot) minor contact marks, good very fine £80-100

James Marshall was born in 1831 in the Parish of West Church, Edinburgh. A Baker by trade, he attested for the 74th Foot on 5 September 1849. His first period of service ended in December 1859 and he re-engaged into the 43rd Foot on 5 April 1860. He was discharged on 7 March 1871, aged 39 years, 2 months. He served overseas for 2 years, 8 months in the Cape of Good Hope; 10 years, 1 month in India and 2 years, 7 months in New Zealand and was in addition to the above awarded medals for South Africa 1834-53 and New Zealand. Sold with copied service papers.
