W. J. Walker enroled in the Aberdeenshire Volunteers. Served with the 1st Service Company from the 1st (Volunteer) Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Joined with the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders at Bloemfontein on 4 December 1900. Served in ‘M’ Company. Left South Africa in April 1901.
