China 1842 (William Vine, Petty Offr., H.H.S. Conway) replacement straight bar suspension, edge bruising and contact marks, fine £260-300

William Vine was born in Bradon, Isle of Wight. Entering the Royal Navy in 1833, his records show that for the period 29 January 1833-14 November 1836 he was ‘Convicted Smuggler. Time not allowed for pension’. He entered service aboard the Conway in November 1836. Sold with some copied service details.
