Arthur Sidney Dunkley, who was born in June 1906, appears to have originally entered the Royal Air Force as a Halton Apprentice pre-war. Commissioned into the Technical Branch from the rank of Flight Sergeant in August 1950, he was advanced to Flying Officer in August 1952 and was awarded the Coronation Medal in the following year while serving at R.A.F. Horsham St. Faith, a Bomber Command base. Dunkley gained further advancement to Flight Lieutenant in February 1954 and was finally placed on the Retired List in June 1973, in the rank of Squadron Leader.
