Alister Ralph Spiers Alexander was born on 30 November 1886. Educated at University College London, he qualified as a M.B. and B.S. London in 1910. Entering the I.M.S. as a Lieutenant on 28 January 1911, he was promoted to Captain on 28 January 1914. Serving in Iraq during the Great War, 1915-16, he died of wounds on 9 February 1916 whilst serving with the 7th (attached 2nd) Gurkha Rifles. He was buried in the Kut War Cemetery.
