‘At 11.00 a.m. on 6/01/1914 Lionel H. Booth, West African Medical Staff and his native dispenser were in a canoe which capsized in the Warri River, Southern Nigeria, the water being deep and aligators present. Dr Booth swam to the help of the man and kept him afloat till they were picked up’. (Case No. 40,726).
