D.F.M. London Gazette 21 January 1944.
The following details are taken from the original recommendation for the award of the D.F.M.: ‘Sergeant Adair has completed a fine operational tour of 30 sorties with this Squadron. Before remustering to aircrew, Sergeant Adair was on the strength of this Squadron as a Corporal Fitter and his technical knowledge was turned to excellent account during his operational tour as Flight Engineer. His experience was also a great asset to the Flight Engineer Section on its formation. Sgt Adair’s tour has been a lengthy one as he has flown with several captains, but he has shown the same unfailing keenness and cooperation in all his sorties.’ Sold with a copy of the original recommendation which lists his 30 sorties against targets in Germany, France and Italy.
