Sergeant William Richard Davey was killed during a raid on Hamburg on the night of 2/3 August 1941 when his Wellington bomber was shot down by a night-fighter (Fw Siegfried Ney, 4/NJG1) and crashed into the Ijsselmeer, the entire crew were killed. His name is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
