Ordinary seaman Robert Fitton a native of Farnworth, Lancashire was killed in action 18 February 1940 when his ship H. M. S. Daring was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine off Duncansby Head, North Scotland. The ship carried a compliment of 162 officers and men of whom only five were saved.
Able Seaman Joseph Ronald Knowles date of death is given as 7 January 1941, at the time he was serving aboard H. M. S. Defender. His name is commemorated on the Plymouth Memorial.
