Dr John Allan served as Medical Officer to the 9th Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders during the Great War. He was later Surgeon to the Dumbartonshire Section of St Andrew’s Ambulance Corps and Divisional President of the B.R.C.S. in Dumbartonshire, becoming Honorary Life Member in May 1931.
