Archibald Telford, a Type Founder born in St Cuthberts, Edinburgh, enlisted into the 79th Highlanders in July 1866. He transferred to the 42nd Highlanders in November 1873, taking part in the Ashantee War, during which he was slightly wounded at the Battle of Amoaful on 31 January 1874. He transferred back to the 79th Highlanders in May 1874 and re-engaged for a second period of service in June 1876, taking part in the Battle of Tel-El-Kebir, where he was dangerously wounded. Sold with copy service papers.
