The History of the Sudan Campaign, by Colonel H. E. Colville, C.B., Coldstream Guards, compiled by the Intelligence Division of the War Office, HMSO 1889, two volumes and a separate slip case of maps: Volume I 277pp, Volume II 327pp, illustrated throughout with battle plans, sketches and fortification diagrams. Volume III 10 large folded plans including the action at Abu Klea, the position at Gubat and the defences at Suakin; the 63 appendices include despatches covering each of the major battles and actions including a full list of those naval and military officers and men mentioned in Lord Wolsley’s final despatch, detailed diagrams of the various cataracts, specifications of the Nile troop boats, list of the merchant vessels employed, list of staff officers and their appointments during the Nile Expedition, names of officers employed on railway, medical and special services, and those serving on the staff attached to the Suakin Field Force, red cloth covers (2) £200-250
