Distinguished Flying Cross, G.VI.R., the reverse officially dated 1944, and additionally inscribed ‘Flight Lieutenant Dennis A. Thompson’, together with R.A.F. cloth wings and contained in its Royal Mint case of issue, extremely fine £300-350

Dennis Alfred Thompson served as a night fighter pilot with 409 Squadron, and with 600 (City of London) Squadron in the Mediterranean area, flying from North Africa as a Flying Officer early in 1943, and then as a Flight Lieutenant over Italy during 1944. During this time he destroyed one Piaggio P108 and four Ju87’s, with a further Ju87 damaged. Sold with a considerable quantity of detailed research including copies from Squadron Record Books, Combat Reports, and award recommendations.
