Corporal C. Delaney was severely wounded at the battle of Kambula on 29 March 1879. In this hard fought battle the 90th were greatly distinguished and had 1 officer and 11 men killed or mortally wounded, and 2 officers and 21 men wounded. The Zulu casualties amounted to approximately 1500 killed or mortally wounded.
