Scroop Hutchinson was appointed Hospital Mate on 10 February 1801, and as Assistant Surgeon to the 2nd Bn. 52nd Foot two days later. He was appointed Surgeon on 20 June 1805, and was present with the regiment at Corunna.

Surgeon Hutchinson resigned sometime at the end of 1810.
