Magor states that this was the first time that an Indian Artillery unit was employed in Africa. And the men of the Murree Mountain Battalion acquitted themselves well, not least in the withdrawal to Afmadu, when several attacks were launched by the Somalis. Making good use of case shot, they accounted for at least a dozen of the enemy who made the mistake of appearing in the open.
