D.S.O. London Gazette 13 February 1917: ‘Lieut. (Acting Captain) Liverpool Regiment (Special Reserve). For conspicuous gallantry in action. He handled his company in the attack with the greatest courage and skill, himself remaining out with a few men in an exposed position. He has at all times set a splendid example of gallantry and good leadership.’
