Harold Carr was killed in action in France and Flanders on 12 September 1918 whilst serving with the 5th Battalion, Devon Regiment. Sold with copy of a newspaper article, which includes a picture of recipient, announcing his death, which states, ‘The first news of his end came in a letter from his officer, who reported that death was from a piece of shell, and instantaneous.’
