Medals Related to Aviation, France, Aviation, 1920, a bronze medal by P.-M. Dammann, similar, engraved (Don du Ministre de l’Air), 50mm (CGMP p.115; cf. DNW 37, 1269 and 48, 952); First Crossing of the North Atlantic from East to West, 1930, a bronze medal by L. Desvignes for Lemaitre, conjoined busts of Costes and Bellonte left, reverse Breguet biplane over a map of the route, Breguet legend in tablet below, 50mm (cf. DNW 40, 715 and 42, 1308) [2]. Very fine, first patinated (£40-60)

Dieudonné Costes (1892-1973) and M. Bellonte left Paris at 11am on 1 Sept1930, arriving in New York, via Boston, just after midnight on 3 Sept. They flew a Breguet monoplane, the Point d'Interrogation, powered by a 65hp Hispano-Suiza engine
