Rowland Hill (1772-1842), as a General, took part in actions during the Peninsula War under Wellington at Talavera and Arroyo del Molinos, and in 1812 he was commander at the storming of the forts at Alamarez. He succeeded Wellington as C-in-C in England in 1828
