Germany, Engraved bronze medallion, two male figures in peasant dress and holding staves to right, walking left, guided by third figure with a long beard, wearing cap and more elaborate dress, engraved on a thin bronze flan, 44mm, pierced for suspension. Only about fine, but much detail still clear (£30-40)

A very curious piece, the style of engraving and dress suggests a Continental origin, perhaps Dutch or German, and an early date, possibly 16th century. It is profitless to speculate on the significance of the scene portrayed.
