Lance-Corporal Beatty completed parachute training and was awarded the Red Beret, passing out with 424 Platoon on 7 May 1876. He served in the Falls Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1976-77, and was a member of “B” Company, 2 Para during the Falklands campaign, being present at the battle for Goose Green.
