Miss Elizabeth Agnes Peters was born at New Quay, Cardiganshire in 1881 and joined the Territorial Force Nursing Service for the duration of the war on 13 July 1916. She initially served at the 3rd London General Hospital, until posted for service overseas. She embarked for India on 3 April 1917 and arrived in Bombay 9 May 1917, proceeding to Mesopotamia on 16 May 1917. She mainly served at Amara in Mesopotamia and was recommended for recognition for her services with Armenian and Assyrian refugees and Turkish prisoners of war. One of her confidential reports speaks highly of her work at the refugee camp at Baqubah. She was invalided home in 1919, following a fall from a horse resulting in a fractured arm, wrist and cheek.
