Glasgow Fire Brigade Late 19th, early 20th Century Helmet.
A rare example, the skull of hardened stout leather with a blackened finish, raised crest with brass trim, frontal band and peak trim in brass. Small gilding metal frontal badge featuring the Arms of Glasgow over crossed fireman’s tools, title strap, ‘Glasgow Fire Brigade’. Original leather sweatband/lining part detached. The inner rear peak with indistinct Glasgow supplier’s details, also marked, ‘112 D M Donald’. The leather chin strap a modern replacement, slight scarring to the skull and rear peak otherwise good condition £400-£500
