Roman Imperial Coinage, Vespasian, plated Denarius, copying an Aureus of Lugdunum, 72, [–] avg pm tr p iiii p p cos iiii, laureate bust right, rev. [–] avgvsti, Pax/Nemisis advancing right, holding cornucopia above snake, 2.11g (RIC 1180 note). Good fine but with the surfaces lightly scuffed, very rare £60-£80
RIC 1180 is an aureus issue with these types. In a footnote for that entry the authors state the existence of a single denarius with similar types which they suspect of being plated. The current coin would appear to be from the same ‘issue’
