World War i, 1915, a steel box medal by C. M. Schwerdtner for Reisser und Sohn of Vienna, German and Austrian soldiers with rifles stood by a tree, reverse clasped hands over a sword; the interior containing 12 coloured printed cards by S. Löffler, depicting a soldier’s war, from his leaving home to his marked grave, 51mm (BDM VIII, 200). Very fine, the coloured cards virtually as new (£40-60)
